Congress of the People believes that the only way to restore the seriously damaged image of our country is for President Zuma to resign forthwith.
His ineffectual leadership has deeply shamed this country. He has failed our people and fellow Africans. He has created misgivings and mistrust on the continent.
COPE believes that for the continent and indeed for the entire world to trust as again, it is necessary for President Zuma to fall on his sword. His continuation in office will only worsen the situation at home and abroad.
On the 21st anniversary of our democracy we have once again become the skunks of the world. Zuma must put the country first and do what the dire situation requires: go!
South Africa needs a strong and visionary leader who can hold law and order together and who can provide the inspirational words that can lift us from the pits of depravity that we have fallen into.
African countries and their people are reacting very adversely to what has happened. We understand their outrage because we feel the same. In our common national interest Zuma must go. No amount of interviews on TV nor the deployment of the army will solve the problem. What needs to happen must be bigger than that.
The serial problems we have been facing stem from a serious lack of leadership. President Zuma, the king of patronage and internal politics, has failed the country and the continent. He must resign.
