West plotting Zuma assassination‚ claims KZN ANCYL
Closing rank around President Jacob Zuma following a week of mounting pressure for him to step down‚ the ANC Youth League in KwaZulu-Natal alleged on Friday that it had uncovered a plot by the West to assassinate him.
Speaking after a Youth League extraordinary provincial executive committee‚ the Young Lions said it was ready to defend Zuma and that there was a ” great and urgent need” to boost the capabilities of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) to defend the country.
Youth League secretary Thanduxolo Sabelo said Western countries‚ including the United States and the United Kingdom‚ wanted to” wreak the same havoc like they did to Libya” which resulted in the toppling of dictator Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
“I want you comrades to know that we have uncovered such a plot … we must start to build the capabilities of the SANDF to the capacity and capabilities of a world superpower. We must have one million well-trained young soldiers‚” he said.
He didn’t elaborate further on the alleged assassination plot.
Sabelo claimed the trading terms introduced through the African Growth and Opportunity Act was just the start to destabilise the country.
“President Jacob Zuma’s sin is that he dumped the West and looked east. This is why you see attacks on Brics (Brazil‚ Russia‚ India‚ China and South Africa)‚ which is the new world order. The attacks come from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank which are hell-bent on maintaining the status quo‚” he said.
Youth League provincial chair Thami Ngubane said the superpowers are now creating conditions in South Africa that will wreak havoc and cause instability. He said it was a known fact that the US had a military base in Botswana.
Sabelo called on the Youth League to defend Zuma. “We are here and we want to re-affirm our support for President Zuma.”
