Gordan DaughterEFF STATEMENT ON MINISTER OF PUBLIC ENTERPRISE PRAVIN GORDHAN’S DAUGHTER DOING BUSINESS WITH THE STATE.

The EFF has written to all Ministers to ask government departments including state-owned entities about Anusha Gordhan’s businesses with government. Anisha Gordhan is the daughter of Pravin Gordhan and has been benefiting through multiple companies from government tenders for consulting and advisory services. Of all the ministers we asked questions, only 11 Ministers have so far responded even after the 10 days rule has passed and none of the Minister who has not responded asked for an extension from the Speaker as per the National Assembly rules.

Anusha is listed as a director in following companies:

1. DCD GROUP
2. AFRIT
3. ELGIN GROWN AND HAMMER
4. Hulisani CONSORTIUM
5. ELGIN DOCK
6. DIESEL AND TURBO SERVICES CENTER
7. VOX TELECOMMUNICATIONS
8. AFRIT PROPCO
9. VOX HOLDING
10. SIMIGLO
11. PHUMA FINANCE

Of the all eleven companies which Anusha is/was listed as a director, we thus far know that, mainly through Vox Telecommunication which was registered not long after Pravin Gordhan was appointed a Minister, Anusha’s business has amassed well over R80 million worth of state tenders from only 11 ministerial responses immediately after registration of her companies. Amongst many bizarre contracts, including contracts cancelled by the Department of Public Work and its entity because Vox Telecommunication did not have the capacity, her company is paid more than R10 million to provide internet services by the Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry.

The EFF is aware that there are several other tenders and consulting work Anusha Gordhan has with government, particularly National Treasury. We are expecting them to honestly and honourably respond so that we can take the next step of action.

Anusha, through a company called Hulisani, is a beneficiary of REIPPP and continues to use the money made through other state tenders to expand her shareholding in the renewable energy as the effort to collapse and private Eskom continues.

The EFF will expose all the dealing of Anusha Gordhan, and demonstrate that like Duduzane Zuma, she used her father’s proximity to score state tenders, except she did not work with the Guptas, but worked with those who benefited from apartheid. We know that she is closing her banking accounts and resigning as a director in many of the companies that benefited from state tenders.

National Treasury continues to ignore the questions like they normally do, and the EFF will be forced to explore other avenues to get demand answers.
