Fair and Equitable Society has commenced with legal action against Lebogang Komana who posted a twitter that accuses Judges of taking bribes. He has now deleted the twit.

Dear Mr Lebogang Komana (@komamaPLK)

  1. We have noted your twitter post dated the 9th September 2019. Wherein you make allegations that certain judges have received monies from the CR17, a campaign linked to the President of South Africa, Cryril Ramaphosa

2. You have listed the following judges as paid by the CR17 campaign:
2.1. Judge Letti Molopa Sethosa received R150 000.00 on 12 June 2019
2.2. Judge Elias Matojane received R185 00.00 on 04 April 2019
2.3. Judge Dhaya Pillay receivedR130 000.00 on 23 February 2019
2.4. Judge Sullet Potterill erceived R70 000.00 on 17 September 2018 and R120 000.00, 22 June 2019
2.5. Judge Navi Pillett received R100 000.00 on 15 July 2018
2.6. Adv. Shamila Batohi received R1 750 000.00 on 14 March 2018.

3. It is further apposite to mention that these allegations create an impression that our judiciary might not be as independent as desired and we request that:
3.1. You confirm that these allegations are true; and
3.2. Provide us with proof and/or source of these allegations, alternatively, provide proof of these allegations to the Judicial Service Commission.
3.3. In the event that you do not have proof that support these allegations, you are therefore advised to remove this post.

We further wish to bring to your attention that we reserve our rights to bring an application to the Honourable Court, for an enquiry as to whether your conduct is contemptuous in that it scandalizes the Court.

Kindly respond to our request within 24 (twenty four) hours upon receipt of this letter.
